Having grown up in a house that had a basement full of printing equipment and hand set type (think Gutenberg), including various presses, some weighing over a ton, it was hard not to get ink in my blood. My father Norman had been interested in printing since he was a boy and as an adult took printing on as a serious hobby. My first "chargeable" printing order was for some cards for a fellow class-mate in the sixth grade. The kid never did pay me - first lesson learned!

After graduating from high school my dad and I made a full fledged business out of the hobby and the rest as they say is history. Cordes Printing has now been in business for 40 years and still going strong.

On the personal side, I've been married to my best friend Wilma since 1981 and we have 3 sons and 1 daughter (plus some wonderful daughter's-in-law). Though I have been trying to pare down the pets at home, we still have a dog (Dixie who can often be found at Cordes Printing as our "security officer") a cat, 2 miniature donkeys and a flock of chickens. You haven't lived until you have had fresh eggs from free ranging chickens.

Cliff Cordes

Art Direction / Web / Photo / Product Design

Cliff is our lead designer, developing the range of Norman's Printery goods. Cliff studied design at the University of the Nations in Burtigny, Switzerland.

In his spare time Cliff, along with his wife Whitney, enjoy creating homemade goods such as wine, vanilla extract, soap and candles.

Brian Cordes

Screen Printing / Pressman

Brian works in our bindery department as well as helping out with finishing services such as letterpress printing, die cutting, embossing and foil stamping. He also is our in-house silkscreen printing expert, hand printing our beautiful wrapping papers.

Brian is also a talented illustrator and enjoys combining his illustrations with his silk screen printing skills to print on skateboard blanks, which isn’t an easy thing to do considering that skateboards are far from flat.
